I was looking through all the Blogs and came accross one that asked who the most underrated skater was. I was just wondering who everyone thinks is or was the most OVERRATED Skater is or was???

I look at these questions a little differently. I ask myself what skater was placed in the limelight and did not have the athletic skating skills to make up for the over-sized character the TV producers scripted for them. For fans who enjoyed the skating and action of roller derby.... some featured people let those fans down.

I look for skaters who were ALL STAGED by the other skaters in order to draw attention to their personality and character.

For instance:
Earlene Brown number 747
She was so big she could not skate but a few laps, yet she was featured on many TV shows because of her freakish size.

Dar the STAR
She was a TV model-type, but skating skills were just so so.

The infield Midget
He was singled out by the TV producers because he was a sideshow freak.

IceBox
Another skater who could skate about 2 laps, requiring all the other skaters to skate down and fall for him and his deep freeze.

Other Infield characters
There have been many infield characters who are there for the sideshow of the TV aspect of the games. These are the people who helped OVER-SATURATE TV with the circus side of the game and not the SPORT. From here TV viewers began to loose interest in roller derby.

So why did old school derby die?

Mr. Ferrari you crack me up. I have been involved with Derby since 1962 and you made me think on this one. But you know I think that you might have my vote also. Whether it was points , kills or whatever, Mr. Stahl would always trip over his own two left feet. Great job Dan and great selection. I think you have a winner!

This is a very interesting question Patrick......... But with out any thinking at all their is only one skater if you can call him that to be number 1 on this list. That Is Larry "Dull" Stull........ He could not skate when he started, never got better and when he retired finally, Thank God...... was the same "Dull" Stull......... Why he gets my #1 Vote is that he acted and thought he was another Mike Gammon............ Larry " Dull " Stull what a joke as a skater............
