Wow! For a first game that Lali and her Husband organized, it was a good start! Not a huge audience , but was decent. There were, in my estimation, about 150 (+/-) people there, and they were very enthusiastic about the game. Even the photographer for the Las Vegas Sun, who was in the infield with me and one other gentleman taking pictures, she was very much in favor of this game. Getting ready to start the 2nd half, I asked her if she was having a good time and how she like the Derby....she was very excited about the game and all that was going on and said she loved it and was having a great time. It was a great game, and this game was done legitimately. There were no managers in the infield to interfere. Just skaters, refs and photographers. Loretta Behrens was in attendance, but not in the infield, Mizz Georgia Hase, unfortunately had a leg injury that prevented her from taking part in the infield.....but one person in the infield, representing the Las Vegas High Rollers was the one and only, FRANKIE MACEDO!!
The game went back and forth all night long. There were approximately 8-10 lead changes throughout the game. Blackhawks tem members Ray Robles, Dave Marez, "Sweet" Stephanie and Lori Weikel were up to their usual tricks during the game. Stephanie usually jumping all over Lali, pulling her hair to take her down, taking a running start and do a flying leap on top of Lali. Frank Apodaca and Cliff Butler were the recipients of Marez and Robles shenanigans. The game was well fought and well skated. At the end of the game and the last jam, the Blackhawks were cruising for the win in the game, but when the jam was called off, they recieved NO POINTS, and thus the Las Vegas High Rollers won their home opener by a score of 48-46.
I spoke to Lali towards the end of the game, and she was very enthusiastic about the attendance and how the game went. She told me this was a good start. I've also been told that there may be more games in 2010, so keep your eyes peeled for more info. :-)
Kudo's to Lali and her husband for getting this organized, and to all the people involved with setting up the track and everyone who was involved period.....especially the skaters! I look forward to seeing more games out there....and taking more pics as well. LOL Also, keep an eye out for Lali's sons in the future. They took part in time trials during halftime. They both did a great job out there, as did the other two skaters, which one is the son of Tony Stewart's girlfriend, Austin Green. Until Lali's oldest son came up to take the track, Austin eclipsed the first skater, Lali's younger son, by about 2 1/2 seconds. Lali's oldest son beat Austin bt 1/100th of a second. It was a close competition. These for boys who went out in the time trials did a fantastic job, and I can see bigger and better things going for them. 48.8 seconds was Lali's younger son's time after 5 laps. The next skater was a little slower, but not by much. Austin came in with a 45.3, I believe, then Lali's oldest son came in at 45.2. These kids are the future of skating, and they did a great job and their parents ought to be damn proud of them.
Once again, Las Vegas High Rollers beat the Los Angeles Blackhawks 48-46. Pics will be posted soon.
