U can start games on your own if there is so much support?

Here in the SF area, we always had an over abundance of skaters from the original Roller Derby, so putting games on was easy. I've promoted games since 1988. All you need is someone who is financially able to manage all the costs of the events... and likely loose money on 98% of those events.

Anyone down there able to do that? My brother in Australia says the downturn in the USA econ has not dramatically effected the Aussie econ?

Hi from australia ,a lot of skaters who played for the tbirds in australia are still going strong and we meet once a month for lunch and talf over old times and wish it could comeback down under. As there would be a lot of help from us oldies All the best roller game will never die down here. bob

Danny died in the late 90s, early 2000's. When I met him in Riverside California it was 1989.

He passed away a long time ago. In the 80s we had MANY deaths that were not discussed much... The disease had a stigma.

Thanks for the Judge's name. It hit me the other day after I posted here on this thread.

The judge is Valerie Vega however she did not skate for the team at that time. You may be thinking of Sally Vega. Don't forget Gwen Miller, Terry Lynch, Judy Sowinski, Billy Marshall, Sam Washington and a few others still alive.

Some are still around, and like Tim said some have probably passed on like Ralphie and Danny Reilly. Honey Sanchez, Ralphie's wife is still around and is planning a tribute next month in the City of Industry from what I heard along with Gina Valladares. Carmen "Sugar" Thompson still skating with the T-Birds, as is Greg Robertson. Other than that, Some are just retired skaters, if they haven't passed on, and one, if I remember right, is a judge in Las Vegas. I forgot who, but it was on an old site for the T-Birds. I want to say her first name is Judy, but not positive.

Most are passed away by now or in serious states of disability.

Thank God for our new skaters
