Southern Fried Smackdown: 2009 WFTDA South Central Regional Tournament

Top ten teams from WFTDA's South Central region head to Atlanta to face off in this one, to determine which teams head to Philadelphia for 2009 WFTDA Nationals.

This is the third of four regional championship tournaments this year for WFTDA affiliated leagues.

The South Central tends to have fewer experienced teams than the other three WFTDA regions. TXRG (2006 nat'l champs) are pretty much a lock to come in first, and KCRW (2007 nat'l champs) are pretty much a lock to come in second.

I suppose Dallas or Atlanta COULD upset Houston for third (and the third seed for the region at Nationals).

Upsets on the lower end of the seedings could happen. Most of the bottom five have had some tournament experience, but not necessarily at the highest levels. Playing three or four bouts in three days and watching the best in their region go at it ought to help them bring their play to a higher level. Just watching different styles of strategy ought to have them learning as the bouts happen
