Brawl of America: 2009 WFTDA North Central Regionals

Brawl of America

The Brawl of America is the Women's Flat Track Derby Association's 2009 North Central Regional Tournament. There will be a total of 10 teams from the region heading to St. Paul to compete to go to the 2009 Nationals.

This is the second of four regional championship tournaments this year for WFTDA affiliated leagues.

Dennis Duff (from this site) will have his roller derby historical exhibit on display at the event!

This is being held at one of the greatest derby venues in the country. The historic Roy Wilkins Auditorium.

Here's the finishing places (top three advance to Nationals in Philly)
1 WINDY CITY ROLLERS (1st seed)
2 MAD ROLLIN DOLLS (3rd seed)
3 DETROIT DERBY GIRLS (2nd seed)
4 Cincinnati Rollergirls (4th seed)
5 North Star Rollergirls (8th seed)
6 Arch Rival (5th seed)
7 Brewcity Bruisers (9th seed)
8 Burning River Rollergirls (10th seed)
9 Minnesota Rollergirls (6th seed)
10 Grand Raggidy Rollergirls (7th seed)

Aside from Madison's upset of Detroit, the top four came out as seeded. Surprisingly strong showings by North Star (after an upset first round loss), Brewcity and Burning River promise to do a bit of upending on next quarter's rankings.
